OAKLAND at SAN FRANCISCO

-- In the NFL, teams who lose by 40 points generally have a tendency to come back and give a more spirited effort in an attempt to erase the embarrassment, while teams who lose 18-point leads at home have a tendency to slump, sulk and point fingers. The latter is what oakland has to deal with this week. The Raiders don't have much confidence in their quarterback - Andrew Walter is this year's version of last year's Alex Smith, with one TD pass and seven turnovers already (also just 38% accuracy). Meanwhile, this year's Alex Smith not doing horribly bad, with 55.6% and just two interceptions. In this one, the Niners' pass game works better (Antonio Bryant has averaged a surprising 22 yards a catch, while Randy Moss once again frustrated with an ineffective QB). The rushing game works better, with Frank Gore racking up 331 yards. The Raiders have averaged nine points and 70 yards passing a contest, giving up 19 sacks. San Francisco (no INT's) can at least rush the passer a little bit (12 sacks). Maybe a little revenge for Niners' offensive coordinator Norv Turner, fired as Oakland coach in the off-season?
