NY GIANTS at SEATTLE

NY GIANTS (+3.5) at SEATTLE -- Last year the Giants went to Seattle and were flagged for no less than eleven false start penalties. Eli Manning came in with a 2-5 record in his road starts. Three field goals were missed by Jay Feely. And yet, New York still took the game into overtime and by all accounts should have won. No one should have written the Giants off in the NFC East race, a fact that was illustrated last week when Manning led them back from a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat Philly. In that one, Eli was eight-for-eight in the overtime period, and gained the undying confidence of his teammates, as if he didn't have it already. One has to wonder how much confidence Seattle has in its running game without the presence of All-Pro guard Steve Hutchinson (gone to Minnesota), because Shaun Alexander has not looked the same. The Giants, who may use the no-huddle extensively in this one, outgained the 'Hawks 490-355 in last year's encounter, and have improved on offense with further contributions from Plaxico Burress and additional maturation of Manning, who has won three of his last four starts away from home.
