-- Washington surprised some people last week when, even without injured QB Isaiah Stanbeck, they were able to take nationally-ranked Cal to overtime. New QB Carl Bonnell ran around and made some plays, but he also made a lot of mistakes - five interceptions, in fact. Arizona State's defensive line gets pressure on the quarterback (23 sacks), so it's quite possible Bonnell gets forced into more errors this week. And Sun Devil QB Rudy Carpenter, who himself was mistake-prone through ASU's bad stretch, has gone 26-36 with no INT's in his last two. Washington will be somewhat short-handed in the running game, as Kenny James, useful in short-yardage situations, is out. While Arizona State has won just nine of 28 road games in the Dirk Koetter era, the dynamic may be right for this one - Washington is sapped emotionally coming off the OT loss, while ASU got a breather/tuneup against Stanford last week, after perhaps helping to right its ship with a close loss to USC in the previous outing.
